The Brereton Log Rule formula to calculate board feet is:
\[ \text{BF} = 0.06545 D^2 L \]
The Brereton Log Rule calculates the volume of a log in board feet. It does not take into account any deductions needed for saw kerf, slabs, or edgings. It gives the volume of a log in terms of board feet, calculated at one cubic foot = 12 board feet.
Let's assume the following values:
Using the formula:
\[ \text{BF} = 0.06545 \times 20^2 \times 16 = 418.88 \text{ board feet} \]
